Built for developers who back up virtual machines
Arcamatic Backup is a desktop utility for making low-bandwidth, Windows machine-to-machine backups of specific directories. It is designed for developers and other technologists who routinely copy files from one or more virtual machines to a centralised location for a consolidated backup.
Because Arcamatic transfers only files that have changed or do not yet exist at the destination, backups over slow or metered connections complete quickly without wasting bandwidth on files that have not changed.
Licensing
- One licence required per server deployment
- Client installations are free — no licence needed
- Requires Winsock 2.0
- Under 15 MB disk space
What Arcamatic Backup does
Transfers Only Changed Files
Sends only files that have changed or do not yet exist at the backup destination, minimising data transferred over slow connections.
Difference Hashing
Compares files using difference hashing without transferring them first, so bandwidth is used only when a file has actually changed.
Transparent Compression
All transfers are automatically zipped before sending and unzipped on arrival, reducing network bandwidth usage and increasing throughput.
Multiple Client Support
The server handles connections from multiple clients simultaneously and can optionally organise directory structures by each client's IP address.
Scheduled Transfers
Command-line options allow the built-in Windows Task Scheduler to start clients and/or the server at scheduled times to perform automated transfers.
Configurable Buffers
Supports setting send and receive buffer sizes and listening on specific IP addresses for fine-grained network control.
Supported operating systems
Arcamatic Backup runs on a wide range of Windows versions.
